After we had Naiya, we went from seeing our families a few times a year to so many times a year, it’s become increasingly difficult to keep track! All of this extra family time has really upped our travel game recently–especially since Phil and I are both east coast transplants and we want to make sure we are able to visit everyone. This weekend, we took a road trip from LA to Phoenix and back to see Phil’s family for a total of almost 6 hours each way. In prepping for the trip, while I initially couldn’t help but picture a baby crying fest and anxiety overload, we lived to tell the tale! Today, I’m rounding up our favorites tips in case you have family road trips with your baby or toddler planned in the near future too. I should add that many of these tips were recommendations I received from readers on Instagram! A big thank you to those who helped us out–you guys are lifesavers!
For those of you looking to track down the perfect little white dress to add to your wardrobe (which is especially ideal for engagement photo sessions or other wedding festivities), this post is for you! I scooped this dress up from one of my favorite online retailers, Chicwish and I’m obsessed. Aside from being so cute, it has a price tag of less than $80.00 so it’s also pretty much guilt-free. Sharing outfit details with you below as well as some ideas in terms of how to style it for fall. Wrapping up today’s post with a quick family update. Enjoy!
Along with today’s outfit of the day (a bright pink mumu because…#momlife), I’m excited to share a guest post by my hubby, Phil. I last interviewed him here about how his experience in becoming a first-time dad. Since it looks like that post was one of your all-time favorites, my wordsmith of a husband is back today by popular demand. This time, I asked him to open up a bit about his version of our love story. Since some of you may be newer to this blog and I haven’t shared too much about how we met since our wedding posts (more here, here and here), I’m excited for Phil to get you all caught up below in his own words.
TGIF! The work week has been so non-stop, I couldn’t be more excited for the upcoming weekend. Weekends are always so hectic in our house–especially since Naiya came into our lives. All week, I dream of accomplishing so many things and I’m constantly making “to do” lists. Then, when the weekend finally hits, I’m rarely able to get through even half of my list because…#momlife.
Today’s outfit combines a few of my favorite wardrobe staples of the moment: red moto jackets, wide-legged pants and turtlenecks. As a petite girl (I’m 5″4 on a good day!), I stayed away from wide legged pants for a while because I thought they would drown me and possibly make me look shorter. That said, I recently dipped a toe in with these patterned ones (similar here and here) and I loved them so much, I’m now I am filling up my closet with more. It turns out that high-waisted wide legged pants actually elongate petite frames–especially when paired with a nude heel. They also look great on all different body types because they cinch right at the tiniest part of your waist and they add volume to your lower-half in a good way.
