Happy Monday, Everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend. This weekend, I had a chance to spend some time continuing to clean out my closet using my favorite book of the moment, “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up” (more about my experience here). As I’ve shared before, I can’t get enough of this book because it teaches you a bunch of hacks for cleaning up, purging and organizing your space that really make sense. Sharing a look today inspired by a basic boyfriend shirt that continues to bring me joy. Almost everything else had to go!
This summer, I just can’t get enough of nude pumps. I don’t know if it’s because they remind me of Kate Middleton’s classic style or if I just love them because they dress up even the most simple of outfits, but one thing is for sure: I’m totally addicted.
My boyfriend, Phil Galanty and I have been traveling all around Europe–from Berlin to Copenhagen and London to Paris–for the past 10 days and it has been incredible. We started off our journey in Berlin, Germany. It was a long flight from our home in Los Angeles but when we got off the plane, we were ready to see as much of the city as we possibly could. We only had one day in Berlin at the start and at the end of our trip so we needed to cover as many of the sites as quickly as we could, on a budget (for helpful sites for TRAVELERS ON A BUDGET, please scroll to the bottom of this post).
Berlin was beautiful and many of the buildings were much more modern than we expected. We loved the mixture of these modern buildings with the historical architecture of older buildings that survived World War II. One of our favorite places we visited was Checkpoint Charlie, a place that signified the border between West and East in the city, Capitalism and Communism, freedom and confinement during the Cold War. Today, it is a fascinating piece of living history.
Here is a photo recap of our experience:
GREAT SITES FOR TRAVELERS ON A BUDGET: Momondo: This site allowed us to track flight prices throughout the year. We nailed $700 round trip tickets from LA to Berlin using this site and we could not have been more thankful. Tripomatic: We were able to use 10 vacation days for our trip this year and we wanted to make every moment count. This site allowed us to plan walking tours in each city for free so that we didn’t miss a beat.
THE BEST TRAVEL SHOES:
For our trip this year, I was set on finding the perfect equally fashionable and comfortable shoes for walking all around Europe. Last year, I chose fashion over comfort–and my feet were killing me. This year, I tried my best to find the best of both worlds. I ended up mainly wearing Nike Free Sneakers and ‘Everly’ booties by Jeffrey Campbell. I highly recommend both shoes as the perfect travel shoes. Both are a bit on the pricier side but they’re worth every penny!
In a couple of weeks, my boyfriend and I will be traveling to Europe on vacation (or technically in two weeks and three days but who’s counting?). We will be visiting Berlin, Copenhagen, London and Paris and we could not be more excited. I’m on a mission to find a happy medium: comfy, supportive and chic shoes for our travels. Although these are not the easiest shoes to find, I’ve found a few so far which I’m really excited about, such as:
(A) Tory Burch Mae Booties. These booties do have a heel but they’re actually comfortable. I’m thinking they’re a great shoe for walking to dinner when we’re in Europe. Don’t get me wrong, I won’t be wearing them to walk around all day, but they’re so classic that I think they’re a great investment, not to mention uber-chic.
(B) I’m also loving the colorful Nike Free Run Sneakers. They’re not at all fancy of course but I will definitely be bringing cute sneakers like these because they’re so comfy and practical!
(C) These Modern Vice Jett Classics are really classic and comfortable for travel. They do not have a heel so they are great for walking around in style and I can’t wait to snag a pair.
(D) I just bought myself a pair of these Jeffrey Campbell ‘Everly’ Booties and I could not be more excited to rock them in Europe. They are made of soft leather and I love the trendy cut-outs because they are versatile and cool enough for hot summer weather.
(E) I love London Sole Ballet Flats because they are so comfy, casual and practical. For this reason, I believe they are perfect to wear in cities like Paris and London.
(F) I think these Sperry Top Siders will be my go-to shoe for our trip this year. These shoes need some breaking in but I’ve been working on mine for weeks and they fit my feet like a glove. I especially love the arch support and the fact that I can wear them without socks and my feet still do not hurt at the end of the day.
