I can’t believe how quickly the summer flew by and that we’re already celebrating Labor Day weekend! Phil and I will be staying in Los Angeles, enjoying the sunshine and hopefully catching up on some much-needed sleep! I’ve been working around the clock over the past few weeks and I couldn’t be more excited for a nice breather.

FROM THE SKETCHBOOK
I had the pleasure of attending Syracuse University with an amazingly talented entrepreneur name Kristine Deer. Even back in college, I remember that Kristine was talented beyond her years–she was always sewing and sketching away and she was always able to seamlessly construct her designs so beautifully. She later went onto launch K-Deer, her own line of “haute yogawear” out of New York and I’ve been following along from LA ever since.

It’s Haute Couture week in Paris which means I’ve found myself completely glued to social media and fashion blogs watching the latest and greatest high-fashion gowns of the moment float down the runway. In trying to keep up with all of these beautiful new gowns, I’ve been getting inspired to sketch out couture looks of my own.

I’m excited to share one of my favorite illustrations of the year so far with you. I decided to take a quick break from painting with watercolors and instead, I switched over to sketching out a couple gowns with prisma colored markers. I love the graphic detail I was able to add with markers and I wish these dresses could come to life so I that could wear them.

My husband treated me to some new watercolor paper over the holidays so I was so excited to be able to paint away while we were traveling on the east coast. I spent the week getting inspired by holiday gowns so naturally, I couldn’t help but paint some looks I’d love to construct myself some day.
