I’m loving my new prisma colored markers that my fiance bought me for the holidays! I can’t get enough of their vibrant colors and the fact that they blend together so well.  I timed myself in drawing today’s illustration: I gave myself fifteen minutes to make it happen. I’ve been timing myself a lot lately to see how much detail I can throw into my pieces quickly. This allows me to always find the time to draw and get inspired even after such long work days.

Happy almost holidays! It’s been a really busy few weeks in between Thanksgiving and the upcoming holidays and with all of the work piling up, gifts to buy and wedding planning, I haven’t had as much time as I would have liked for sketching. That said, I decided to make some time for the above sketch and challenged myself to draw a holiday gown in 10 minutes or less with prisma colored markers.

I have been painting with watercolors so much recently (see the latest here), I decided to switch it up last night to break out my prisma colored pencils instead.  I love sketching with colored pencils because I’m able to add in extra texture and detail to my pieces. I also love how quickly I can draw in pencil and there’s no cleanup necessary!  I was able to knock out this sketch in fifteen minutes last night.  Illustrating or doing anything creative is my favorite way to unwind after a long work day.
