gown for black tie wedding

It’s been such a busy few weeks for Phil and I–we were busy traveling for the holidays and in the past week alone, we’ve also attended two weddings–one on the east coast and one back home in LA.  Both weddings were for some of our best friends and they were so beautiful.  Fashion and beauty-wise, I always love getting creative and adding an extra touch of glam for events like weddings–especially during award season in LA because I get inspired.  Likewise, I’m excited to share one of my favorite gowns I’ve ever worn with you today which is perfect for winter and spring weddings alike, not to mention any sort of red carpet or black tie event in your neck of the woods.

Happy Tuesday! Blogging away from a very rainy Los Angeles today. After many weeks of traveling on and off, I’m so happy to be back home!  Phil and I had a wonderful time on the east coast over the holidays visiting family and friends.  After ten days of getting to know Phil’s hometown of Washington D.C., I completely fell in love with it.  We lucked out weather-wise throughout our trip because the temperature never really fell below 40 degrees.  That said, as an LA girl (and self-proclaimed cold weather wimp), I still lived in layers–especially while we walked around the city.  I’m excited to share one of my favorite layered looks of our trip with you today.

If you’ve been following along for a while, you’ll know that I love drawing fashion illustrations–especially of dresses.  With every piece that I finish, I’ve always wished that I’d be able to take the project one step further–being able to construct my illustrations into garments I could actually wear.  I was really excited to finally be able to do just that with today’s dress.
