I had the privilege of speaking on a panel for Syracuse University recently and it was one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had in a long time. I was able to chat with college juniors and seniors studying out here in LA for the semester as they geared up to apply for their first jobs. If these kids are any indication of our future, I left feeling like will be in great hands. They’re smart, they’re positive thinkers and they want to make a difference. Since I haven’t shared too much about my work life outside of RELish with you here, this particular panel inspired me to open up a bit more about it. So without further ado, today, I’m sharing my favorite secrets on how to nail your first job in Hollywood. If you read this and you do end up making it, I ask only that you continue to pay it forward, that you always stay humble and most importantly, that you hire Naiya as your assistant someday.
I am so excited to announce that the amazing Los Angeles-based jewelry designer, Robyn Rhodes and I are collaborating on a jewelry line that will be hitting the scene this coming holiday season. I’m a big fan of Robyn’s jewelry (I recently posted about that here) because her pieces are all one of a kind, they each tell a story and they are handmade in America.
I am really excited to partner up today with Arm The Animals, a company that creates graphic T-Shirts to raise awareness and generate funds for small, struggling animal rescues. Rescuing animals is a cause very close to my heart as both my fiance and I rescued our two dogs–Buddha and Winston–and we couldn’t imagine our lives without them. Arm the Animals helps to raise awareness about animal welfare and makes a difference by donating a generous portion of their sales to shelters. Today, I’m wearing an Arm The Animals cropped tank in black and I paired it with a comfy triangle skort last seen here. I added my favorite black booties by Rag and Bone because they add extra height without being uncomfortable. I topped off the look with mirrored sunnies.
