18 OUTFIT IDEAS FOR NURSING MAMAS

Naiya turned 9-months old this past week! She also hit a few new milestones that Phil and I couldn’t be more excited about:  she’s standing up unassisted, she’s doing a “kissy face” and she’s starting to repeat words like “mama” and “dada.” Naiya also took her first few steps this week (girl, slow down)! On top of it all, I can’t believe Naiya and I are also 9-months into our nursing journey. I never thought I’d get this far (more about my rough start here). Since I’m always trying out nursing outfits that are work and weekend-appropriate, I’m rounding up some of my latest finds for all of you new mamas out there today.

Most of the below pieces are not officially nursing outfits–they just happen to do the trick. While there are a bunch of amazing companies that cater specifically to nursing mamas (like A Pea In A Pod, etc.), I wanted to explore other options too. Likewise, the below looks can also work for any ladies who are not nursing but are on the hunt for some comfy summer outfits. Here goes:

Top 6 Nursing Dresses

When I first started nursing, I thought I’d have to give up dresses for a while. Many dresses simply don’t function when you’re out of the house and need to nurse or pump on the go (unless you are somewhere you can completely strip down).

I’m loving the above dresses because most of them button down the front or they pull down from the straps. Easy access is key.

I’m also loving the idea of matching sets like the floral outfit above. It still looks like you’re wearing a dress but nursing is so much easier because the top is completely separate.

Top 6 Nursing Basics

I’ve been wearing basics on repeat throughout my time nursing. They pair with everything and make my life so much easier when I’m getting ready for work in the morning. Sharing some of my favorite basic pieces with you above.

I’ve especially loved my double-tiered t-shirts and dresses that are created specifically for nursing. These are some of my most-worn pieces.

Every new mama also needs a pair of high-waisted comfy leggings. The pair I’m sharing above are my absolute favorites. They’re by K.Deer (I recently wore a similar pair here) and they make nursing in public feel so much better. They help keep your postpartum tummy in and covered and they’re so comfy, you’ll want to live in them.

Current Nursing-Appropriate Faves

I’ve been wearing a lot of button-downs to work like the green and white striped shirt above. I love tucking them into jeans or skirts and I love that they don’t feel too constricting.

I’ve also been loving the idea of styling nursing tanks beneath matching suit sets like the pink one above. When you’re a working mama, a good blazer goes a long way.

I’ve also been scoping out outfits that look like dresses but are really skirt and shirt combos. Loving the blue set above for summer. Add a pair of flats or sandals and you’re good to go.
