Since having Naiya, I’ve been lucky enough to be on maternity leave from work. This has been one of the biggest transitions of my life because I was so used to moving a million miles per minute, working around the clock and I loved putting thought into my outfits each day. While I’ve been home with Naiya, I’ve completely surprised myself in being able to embrace the slower-pace of mom life. Naiya has become my ultimate focus and while parenthood is hands-down the hardest job I’ve ever had, I can honestly say I’ve never felt more fulfilled or happy.
Outfit-wise, comfort has become key and I’ve found myself living in workout clothes and sneakers–not only because I can get all of the spit-up in the world on them and not be bothered–but also because they motivate me to take Naiya out of the house. The only problem with this is that I really miss my office-wear and actually getting dressed for meetings. Since I’ll be gearing to go back to work in the near future, I’m starting to re-work my wardrobe for the occasion. This pink power blazer is absolutely going to become a staple and I’m on a quest for similar looks like it.
Comfort is key…
I’m currently loving the oversized menswear trend right now because it instantly adds some extra girlboss vibes to any wardrobe (not to mention this trend is also really comfy or my postpartum body right now!). In order to rock this look, it’s important that you pick a blazer with a great fit. If it doesn’t fit right off the rack, a good tailoring job is everything (and it can actually make your blazer look much more expensive without a crazy price tag).
Looking cool, calm and never overdressed
I’m currently loving oversized blazers in plaid or in bold fall colors like this one here and here. Today, I’m wearing this blush version (which I’ve also linked to at different price points below). I love that this blazer is so oversized and I also love its gold hardware. You can technically wear it buttoned up as a dress as well but I prefer it opened with a loose-fitting white tee and distressed skinny jeans. The goal of the look for me is to look polished but not too over-the-top at work since office attire here in LA is not meant to be super dressy.
