GUCCI LOAFER REVIEW

I’ve been on a quest for a perfect, comfy, pair of loafers for a long time. Part of my fashion New Year’s resolution was to pair down my closet to more classic pieces that would last for years to come and to part with trendier pieces. I’ve especially been sticking to these rules when it comes to shoes because I love that a well-made pair of shoes can last for decades if you care for them properly. So excited to share why I splurged on Gucci loafers, which pair I ended up buying and why I think they’re totally worth it.

Choosing Gucci Loafers

When I first set eyes on Gucci loafers few years ago, I just had to add them to my wish list. I immediately fell in love with their classic shape, the fact that they’re so comfy, classic and versatile.

The only problem is that they’re definitely on the expensive side–ranging from $695-$750 and prices go up from there.

Once I decided to save up and take the Gucci loafer plunge, I wasn’t exactly sure which pair to splurge on.  I decided tried them all in order to figure out which pair felt the most comfortable and which pair I’d get the most use out of. For those of you looking to add a pair into your collection too, sharing my thoughts below.

Two Main Types of Gucci Loafers

Gucci loafers come in variety of prints and styles. The main thing to ask yourself is whether you’re in the market for a classic loafer like Gucci’s Jordaan or Brixton or or a slip-on Princetowns loafer.

I love the slip-on version (here) which comes lined in leather or in the comfiest fur (here).

I went back and forth a million times regarding which pair I wanted to add to my collection but in the end, I decided to go with the most classic loafer possible–the Jordaan loafer (which I’m wearing in these photos today). The Brixton loafers look almost identical but they fold down in the back. I didn’t find these as comfortable or sturdy–especially when I folded the back down because you have to step on that portion of the shoe.

The fur-lined Princetowns are beautiful and comfortable but it’s important to note that they run a size-and-a-half too big. They’re also a lot pricer. If you end up going for them, make sure you order up big-time or your foot will hang over the back of the shoe.

The slip-on furless Princetowns are amazing too and they run more true-to-size. These are next on my wishlist (and they come in really fun patterns!) but I find that they’re a bit more trendy than the classic Jordaan loafer.

Outfit Of The Day

Today, I paired my loafers with a simple black blazer, distressed skinny jeans and a comfy tee. This outfit has basically been my work uniform for weeks now.

I love that it’s professional but also comfortable and the loafers dress up the look in the perfect way.

I topped off today’s look with statement earrings I scooped up from J.Crew that I’m currently loving.

Jordaan Loafers

The classic Jordaan loafers are perfect. I’m so happy with my purchase because they’ve worn so beautifully and I truly wear them almost every day to work. The leather is so soft and buttery and they don’t take more than one wear to mold to your feet.

If you go for Jordaan loafers, remember to size down half-a-size or you’ll have to add in an insert so that your heel won’t slip out as you walk. I ended up buying mine a bit too big but thankfully, my inserts have saved the day.
