Today was one of those days where I looked in my closet, rummaged through all of my clothes and came to the conclusion that I had absolutely nothing to wear. I don’t know about you but no matter how many clothes are in my closet at any given time, this happens to me at least a few times a week. Today, I’m sharing an easy solution to this problem that can help you to revamp the clothes you already own in just a few minutes without spending any extra moolah.
The trick? It’s all about layering.
This winter, get creative by layering summer or spring looks you may already own–like spaghetti strapped dresses or camisoles–over tees, button downs or turtlenecks. You’ll be amazed at how much this can expand your wardrobe for colder months and make you look fashion-forward at the same time. Check out the looks here, here and here for inspiration.
Today, I pulled out this little black dress (similar here) that I haven’t worn forever from the back of my closet. It’s one of those dresses that acts as a quick basic to throw on in a pinch. I decided to spruce it up by layering it over a button-down gingham shirt that’s also been sitting in my closet forever. It was the perfect unlikely match and voila, I quickly found a brand new outfit for work without spending an extra dime. I accessorized with simple nude pumps and vintage statement earrings.
