Fall in Los Angeles is a season you kind of have to create for yourself. September through early November here are usually still extremely hot and I oftentimes find myself dreaming about fall back in upstate New York where I grew up. I miss the leaves changing color, brisk mornings, an actual need for hot drinks (let’s face it: pumpkin spice lattes in LA just don’t have the same ring to them) and most of all, I miss fall layers.
And I’m not talking about parkas, hats or mittens because one thing I’ll never miss are the freezing cold winters back home and the piles of snow. But fall layers (sweaters, light jackets, etc.) are and always will be the best.
Creating fall layers of my own today LA-style with this furry pink jacket (similar here and here) that I scooped up last year. I layered it over a very summery dress that I scored at Old Navy for less than $20 (they have tons of amazing steals right now). I love taking summer looks and transitioning them over for fall. I’ve also tried adding a white button down shirt underneath this dress as another alternative. Today, I accessorized with my favorite simple nude sandals by Stuart Weitzman and classic sunnies.
Very excited to also share that our first wedding anniversary styled shoot was featured on the Wedding Chicks blog this week (check it out here!). We had so much fun dressing up for the occasion this spring and are so thankful to all of the amazing vendors who made the day possible. I wore my mom’s wedding gown from the 80’s that I revamped with the help of Grace Bridal Couture. Our fur baby, Winston really stole the show in his little gold bowtie. Now a year and a half after our wedding, I’m thankful for our little family everyday and I’m thankful that we’ll always have these photos to look back on.
