Spring is in the air everywhere we look in Los Angeles. Every street is lines with the most beautiful flowers all in bloom and I can’t get enough. The purple jacaranda trees look like they’re right out of a fairytale and as I drive around in our typical crazy traffic, I’m thankful to at least be able to enjoy such a beautiful view. Today’s outfit is a nostalgic throwback to the ’90’s with a 2016 twist.I owned a very similar pair of white overalls back in middle school except that I, like my fellow 6th graders, always wore one strap off at all times (wearing two was a major fashion travesty at the time). A couple of decades later, while the overall trend is back, we’ve thankfully switched it up a bit.
I scored these comfy more 2016-appropriate overalls from Zara last week and I’m so happy I did. While my hubby calls them my “painter pants” and asks if I’ve finished painting a wall in our house every time I wear them, they go very well with what he calls my “Indiana Jones” hat, seen in this recent post.
Today, I paired my white overalls with a striped tee also from Zara, mirrored cat eye sunnies and nude pumps. Since these particular overalls are pretty baggy, I used heels to dress them up and make them look a bit more sleek. They also happen to look great with birkenstocks or lace-up wedges so I’m excited to experiment more with my shoe game next time around.
If you’re looking for a pair of overalls this season too, here are some other looks I’ve been eyeing: this flared pair, this slouchy denim pair and this black cropped pair. Pulling off overalls in an age-appropriate way is all about what you pair with them. Crop-tops can look really cute underneath for a weekend look and for work, you can pair them with a button-down and pumps. Remember, the baggier the shirt you wear underneath, the less flattering it will usually be.
