It’s been such a busy few weeks for Phil and I–we were busy traveling for the holidays and in the past week alone, we’ve also attended two weddings–one on the east coast and one back home in LA. Both weddings were for some of our best friends and they were so beautiful. Fashion and beauty-wise, I always love getting creative and adding an extra touch of glam for events like weddings–especially during award season in LA because I get inspired. Likewise, I’m excited to share one of my favorite gowns I’ve ever worn with you today which is perfect for winter and spring weddings alike, not to mention any sort of red carpet or black tie event in your neck of the woods.
Since our first wedding was on New Year’s Eve and our second was on Golden Globes weekend in LA, I decided to splurge on one gown and decided to style it in two different ways for each respective event. I scored this sparkly pink floor-length gown at Nordstrom a couple weeks back and it was love at first sight. Its light pink color caught my eye, not to mention its beautiful silvery sheen.
For our first wedding which took place in Washington D.C., I blew out my hair and wore it down–parted in the middle with loose curls at the ends (see my full look here). In terms of makeup, I also went with a more understated look and let the dress really stand out.
For our second wedding (pictured below), I amped up my look with dramatic old Hollywood makeup (including cat-eye eyeliner and a smokey eye). I wore my hair in a 1940’s-inspired extreme side-part. From there, I added braids on each side–one braid was pulled apart and thick, while the other was a tiny fishtail. I accessorized with my own wedding shoes (that I’ve worn time and time again on repeat) and I added vintage drop-down earrings (also worn to a previous wedding) after these photos were taken. To top it all off, I also draped my favorite leather jacket over my shoulders. I love adding edgier pieces to more classic, girly dresses because they feel unexpected and can completely transform any look.
