I had such a great time taking in the crisp fall air while visiting my family in upstate New York for a couple weeks ago.  Now that I’m back in LA, it’s been about 90 degrees out and although Halloween is right around the corner, fall could not feel further away!

Living in a city where it’s warm year round, I’ve learned that I have to get creative with my wardrobe–subbing in layers and boots to help visually switch up seasons without adding too much extra bulk.  Today I wore my grandmother’s cashmere sweater over a red button down and white mini skirt. My grandmother gave me this amazing sweater when I graduated college and it quickly became one of my favorite pieces in my closet because it has so much character and history.  I love that she wore it when she was my age and that it’s a classic piece I’m still able to wear today.

The sleeves have little scallops along the edges and they’re rolled up with little vintage crystals.  The sweater also has a beautiful vintage broach that holds it together in the front. Needless to say, this is such a special piece that I love wearing.IMG_7113IMG_7068IMG_7177IMG_7200IMG_7072IMG_7084I paired this look with a pair of brown booties Phil helped me pick out a few years ago when we took a trip to Paris.  Everytime I wear them, they remind us of our trip and I love how beautifully they’re made.  They come up a bit higher on the ankle than I’m used to and so I usually pair them with skirts so they don’t cut off my jean in a wierd place.IMG_7145IMG_7201IMG_7230IMG_7154 IMG_7119IMG_7100IMG_7135IMG_7080 IMG_7077 IMG_7142IMG_7089IMG_7075THE LOOK:  Lace Skirt / Sunnies / Vintage Sweater / Urban Outfitters Red Shirt (Similar Here:) BCBG Maxazria / San Marino Booties (Similar Here) / Photos By: Brittany Mendoza
