Everybody needs a touch of Hollywood Glamour in their lives–especially on days like today when the 2014 Oscar Nominees list are announced. Likewise, in getting in the red carpet spirit, I found myself especially inspired by my favorite old Hollywood movie stars like Audrey Hepburn; I decided to try my hand at channeling her style with a 2014 twist. THE HAIR: To achieve this look, I decided to go with classic makeup and a top knot. For the top knot, I used a Sock Bun, which has been my go-to hair accessory for a while now because it’s so easy to use. A sock bun is basically a donut-shaped hair piece that you loop your hair through and roll to create a beautiful bun.
THE MAKEUP: I used my favorite M-A-C Red Lipstick because it’s so classic Hollywood glam. I kept the rest of my face bare so that I could then add emphasis to my eyes. I used a sheer eye shadow and then lined my top lids with Lorac Liquid Eyeliner–my favorite liner I’ve ever used because it draws the perfect skinny line that doesn’t smudge. I winged out the sides of my eyes with the liner to create an extra mod sort of look.
THE OUTFIT: I chose to wear black and white as not to take away from my bright lip color. The White Gap Sweater I’m wearing is cozy for winter and I highly recommend it. The fur is vintage from the 1950’s and it’s a piece I love to incorporate whenever I’m looking to add a dash of glam to my outfit. I’m also a huge fan of my Michael Kors Boots because they have a great high heel that is actually comfortable to walk around in all day, not to mention the leather is soft and amazing. I topped off my look with a leather blazer, a dash of vintage sparkle from my bracelet and last but not least, classic Black Ray-Ban Sunnies.
