THE JUICING GOODS: Vitamix Blender / Cute Mason Jars / Omega Juicer

As much as I love fashion, I am also self-admittedly addicted to healthy foods, juices and smoothies.  Thank goodness I live in Los Angeles–a city where I fit right in with the other health-crazies around me.  I have done and continue to do my fair share of yoga, triathlons and workout-fusion classes but one trend that I know will stick around with me for years to come is juicing.  I own both a juicer and a blender and they were two of the best gifts I ever received because they just keep on giving.

I started out following recipes from the amazing Kimberly Snyder, a nutritionist to LA’s top celebrities and author of two excellent healthy cooking/juicing books: The Beauty Detox Foods and The Beauty Detox Solution.  From there, I started experimenting with juicing all different fruits and veggies myself.  I love how these drinks make me feel and how they really do give me a boost of energy, not to mention they do amazing things for my skin.  Below, I’ve included some of my favorite juice and smoothie recipes to date. Try them out and I’d love to know what you think! Bon Appetite!

ABC Juice: Add one raw beet, 2 raw carrots, 2 green apples and one small piece of raw ginger into your juicer.  Voila!  This juice really helps to speed up your metabolism naturally and it also tastes delicious.

RELish Your Muscles Smoothie: Blend together 1.5 bananas, 2 cups of coconut milk, 2 dates, a dash of cinnamon and 2 teaspoons of almond butter.  You can also add a few cubes of ice if you want to add some more thickness to this smoothie and if you’re a chocolate lover, you can also add a handful of raw cacao nibs.  Drink this after a workout or for breakfast to help you gain some extra potassium and protein.

Lean and Green Smoothie: Blend together 2 cups of water, one banana, one apple, one pear, a handful of parsley, a handful of cilantro, a head of organic romaine lettuce and 2 handfuls of organic spinach.  In the end, this smoothie will be much more tasty than you think even though it’s so green.   This is a great smoothie for your skin because it contains so many green vegetables and nutrients.  Start out your day with this smoothie and you will already be on your way to fulfilling your veggie and fruit needs for the day and your metabolism will thank you.
