She is a recent college grad who has a great talent for picking items she loves out of magazines and off of blogs and she then finds the looks for less. She’s also great at coming up with fun D.I.Y. fashion projects. Here is the latest and greatest from the fashionista herself: These Jeffrey Campbell look alike booties are just $27.50 from Amazon.com and they are perfect for fall. They are comfortable and affordable, not to mention adorable. On a recent college grad’s budget, it’s not in the cards for me to purchase the $200.00 Jeffrey Campbell “Everly” booties but these are almost identical and my wallet is thanking me. I love this olive-green southwestern-inspired jacket from Forever 21 and I like the $34.80 price tag just as much. The color is great for the fall and goes with just about everything. The material is well-made and strong. The jacket runs a bit on the larger side but it’s ideal for layering. The drawstring-tie waist helps to take away from the over-sized look, which is a huge bonus. Pair this jacket with different colored leggings or skinny jeans and a pair of boots and you are ready to go. D.I.Y. distressed high-waisted shorts are a great inexpensive project for a night in. I purchased an old pair of high-waisted jeans (or as I like to call them–mom jeans) from a local thrift store for just $7.00. The first step is to cut the pant legs off. I cut them just a little longer than I wanted them to be so I could leave room for fraying. I then cut the sides of the shorts to create slits. Make sure you don’t cut the slits too high up because they will probably continue to fray. That said, you can take a needle and thread and sew a stitch at the top of each slit to keep them in place as best as possible. Next, I frayed the edges of the pockets by rubbing the denim with a sharp scissor. Afterwards, I decided to bleach the bottom of the shorts. I went outside on the back porch so that the smell didn’t linger throughout my house. I used a spray bottle of diluted bleach (about 1/4 cup of water, 3/4 cup of bleach) and began to spray. Keep in mind, the more you spray in one spot, the lighter the color will turn out. I then let the shorts sit for about 25 minutes, until the bleach soaked into the denim completely. Next, rinse and soak the shorts in the bathtub for 20 minutes. Throw them in the wash and dryer to get rid of excess bleach and to make the denim look even more distressed. Try them on and voila–you’ve got yourself a pair of comfy high-waisted shorts to rock with your favorite crop-top, tee or anything in between. These studded boots from amazon.com are perfect for any occasion or season. They are super comfortable, attractive and AFFORDABLE–even for recent college graduates stuck living back with their parents (like me). They’re also almost identical to these Ash Titan Studded Leather Short Boots for $360.00. Pair the boots with skinny jeans and a sweater for a cold winter night or with high-waisted shorts and a crop top on a warmer fall day to create that hipster look.
