It’s been such a whirlwind of a week since I last posted! Phil, Naiya and I flew to New York City for a wedding last Friday and we visited with friends and family throughout the weekend. Although we arrived back in LA on Monday, I feel like I’m still recovering! Traveling with our almost one-year old was so much more exhausting than when Naiya was a newborn (more about our first trip with her here). Likewise, along with today’s outfit post, I’m rounding up my Top 5 Tips For Surviving Flights With Your Toddler using all of the intel we learned along our trip. I know we could have used all the advice we could get before our trip so hopefully today’s post will help other families taking the travel plunge with their little ones in the near future.
I can’t believe summer is already so close to over–especially since it’s currently a whopping 112 degrees in LA! Regardless of the fact that we’re roasting away out here, every August, I love sprinkling pieces into my wardrobe that can seamlessly carry over into fall. Excited to share a lace dress with you today you need to know about because it’s a perfect transitional piece, it’s affordable and uber-versatile.
Now that I’m a mom, I’ve been thinking a lot about what I’d tell my younger self if I could go back in time. There are so many experiences I’ve been through that I’m seeing differently now–especially in raising a little girl who I’m hoping will grow up to become a #girllboss who truly knows her worth. I don’t ever want Naiya to be under the impression that there is a glass ceiling keeping her away from reaching any of the goals she sets out to accomplish. While glass ceilings still seem to exist in so many industries, my fingers are crossed that Naiya’s generation will help set out to change that.
Phil and I recently attended the first wedding we’d been invited to since becoming parents. Truth be told, we had to dig deep into the depths of our closets–past the workout clothes that we’ve been wearing on repeat (more than likely covered in spit-up)–to figure out what to wear. Thankfully, Phil found the perfect suit (men have it so much easier!) and I ended up finding a few classic dresses in the pre-prego section of my closet that I was hoping would fit!
This spring, I can’t get enough of safari-inspired linen. From easy, breezy jumpsuits to classic button-downs and matching sets, I’ve been pairing linen pieces with everything. Naturally, when I saw this white and pink striped linen dress, it was love at first sight and I couldn’t wait to try it on.
