MERCEDES BENZ NY FASHION WEEK RECAP

This past week marked the start of one of my favorite times of the year in the Big Apple, New York Fashion Week. Unfortunately, I now live on the opposite coast so I have to enjoy NYFW from Los Angeles. As a fashion illustrator, I have always greatly looked up to designers who showcase their incredible lines on the runway; each piece is truly a work of art. Since not all fashion lovers can sit on the side of NYFW runways as the beautiful models whisk by, I’ve put together a photo-recap of some of my favorite looks so far from a bunch of different designers who continue to inspire me. Overall trends I’ve noticed include: a lot of color blocking, crop tops, lady-like armpit-length gloves, bright colors that really pop and a lot of cut-outs. I’m excited to see these lines hit the racks and ultimately inspire the rest of the fashion world next season and beyond.

I love the colors Kate Spade used in her Spring 2014 collection. This line has so much character.

Vera Wang was inspired by lady-like gloves and I also loved her black accents on white gowns. Her collections are always timeless and this year was no exception.

The BCBG Spring 2014 line is really beautiful. It looks like the crop top trend is here to stay next spring and I love the neutral pallet here.

I love the intricate simplicity of this Jason Wu dress--the white top paired with an off-white flowing bottom. It's such a timeless look.

Oscar De La Renta is one of my favorite designers. His Spring 2014 line was absolutely stunning this year. He brought back lady-like gloves in part of his collection which I was excited to see. He also designed these two stunning gowns. The pink one is my favorite because the color is so vibrant.
